Wheelchair-Selecting a Power Chair
Power chairs are an option for people who may have little to no use of their upper body. They can be either a chair or a scooter with an electric motor controlled by a joystick. They can come as a three to four wheel scooter, or as a chair with front, mid, or rear-wheel drive.
State General Funds
State General Funds pay for services for children and adults who have been determined
eligible for the Developmental Disabilities (DD) or Medically Fragile waivers, but are not
currently receiving waiver services or personal care services through Medicaid.
Social Security Offices
There are eleven Social Security offices located throughout New Mexico.
Subsidy and Special Conditions are supports that an individual receives on the job. These
supports are provided by someone other than the employer, for example, a vocational
rehabilitation agency, and may result in the individual receiving more pay than the actual value
of the services they perform through work. This is a work incentive.
