One of the CDD\u2019s core values is partnership\nand collaboration that encourages capacity building within communities. So\noften, providers focus on how to teach individuals with disabilities the skills\nthey will need in order to be included. A new project that we have been working\non seeks to work with community organizations around the state in becoming more\naware of diverse abilities, and more accessible for all individuals in our\ncommunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the\nAutism Plus Program?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Autism Plus is dedicated to making our communities more\naccessible for individuals with autism<strong><em> plus<\/em><\/strong> other disabilities. Through\nthe Autism Plus Program, we strive to ensure community organizations obtain\ntraining and support to promote belonging and meaningful engagement of\nindividuals with disabilities. Our training model is designed to empower staff\nmembers and stakeholders to confidently implement inclusive practices long\nafter consultation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why make\nyour organization accessible? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Making your business accessible to people with autism plus\nother disabilities will distinguish your organization as one that values and\naccepts individuals with different strengths and needs. You and your staff\nmembers will gain the skills to optimize your environment in a way that encourages\nactive participation for people with all types of abilities in your place of\nbusiness. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does\nthis process work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Trained consultants visit your place of business and provide\nindividualized training specific to your environment and aligned with your\nmission. This often includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Autism awareness training for staff<\/li><li>Behavior management training specific to\nenvironmental needs<\/li><li>Supplemental visuals and supports individualized\nfor your business<\/li><li>Continued consultation with ultimate goal of\nself-sufficiency<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who is\neligible to partake in the Autism Plus Program?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone! The Autism Plus Program is completely <em>free<\/em>.
